Supporters of the Club

The Liverpool fans called themselves as “kopites” who were the supporters who once stood in the kop in the Anfield Stadium. The anthem for Liverpool football club is set as “you will never walk alone” composed by the Liverpool musicians. The color for the outfits for the team was an accidental idea of Shankly in their first match which he recalls in his biography. The color of the outfits was set red to symbolize Danger in the minds of the rivals. The rivals of the team were Everton and Manchester United. The emblem of the Liver bird in outfits came from the city’s flag. The main sponsors were Hitachi in 1979 and then came a long standing agreement with Carlsberg in 1992 and till now. This is longer for any English football club. Liverpool is owned by George Gillett and Tom Hicks, who acquired the club on 6 February 2007 from previous chairman David Moores. The deal valued the club and its outstanding debts at £218.9 million. The pair paid £5,000 per share, or £174.1m for the total shareholding in the club, and £44.8m to cover the club's debts.
