Liverpool reshaped by Bill Shankly

The club has won back to back trophies in the first division matches in 1922 and 1923 and after that they had never won a trophy until 1946. The club was going in a deteriorating path and so as the economic conditions of the club. They were even sent back to second division following continuous failures in games. The board decided to take drastic steps with the appointment of Bill Shankly in 1959. With his appointment, the team has relieved twenty four players from club and Bill reshaped the team from then scratch. The team was promoted to first division league after 17 years and won back to back league titles in 1964 and 1965. After Bill’s retirement, he was replaced by his assistant, Paisley. Paisely was also in terrific pace with the team and won FA cup and UEFA for the Liverpool football club. The following season they retained the League title, won the European Cup for the first time, but lost in the FA Cup final, narrowly missing out on a treble. Liverpool retained the European Cup the next season, and the season after won the League again with 68 points—a domestic record, conceding only 16 goals in 42 league matches.
