Hillsborough Disaster
After the Heysel stadium disaster, manager Fagan resigned and Kenny Dalglish was appointed as the player manager for the team. The fans were frustrated at the undergoing circumstances and there came another blow to the history of the Liverpool football club. In 1989, in a match against Nottingham forest, a lot of Liverpool fans were crushed as a result of the over crowd and poor stadium facilities. About 95 fans have lost their lives. After this tragedy, the government directly took the matters in its own hands. Committee was setup to analyze the stadium facilities and they were compiled into Taylor Report. Finally the result concluded that the overcrowding problem was caused mainly due to the failure of the police control over the fans.
